Rules

Rules at a glance

Which rules close an account, which only remove profit, and which only delay a payout. With the exact trigger for each.

The risk engine checks your account on every price update and every trade. Each rule does exactly one of three things.

Rules that close the account

Breaking one of these breaches the account. It stops trading and cannot be recovered, though you can reset it within 7 days.

Rule Trigger Applies to
Maximum drawdown Equity below your drawdown floor Every account
Daily loss limit Equity below today's daily floor Every program except 1-Step Pro and 2-Step Pro
Atlas Protector, 2nd trigger Open losses reach 2% of the starting balance a second time Funded accounts
Inactivity 30 days without opening a trade Every program except Instant Zero

Rules that remove profit

The account stays open. The profit on the trades involved is deducted from your balance. Losses on those trades stay yours.

Rule Trigger Applies to
News trading A trade opened or closed within 5 minutes of a high-impact news event Funded accounts
Short trades A trade held for less than 3 minutes Funded accounts
Margin usage Margin in use reaches 80% of available margin. All positions are closed. Funded accounts
Atlas Protector, 1st trigger Open losses reach 2% of the starting balance. All positions are closed and your split drops to 50%. Funded accounts

Rules that only affect payouts

Rule Effect Applies to
Minimum trading days Payout waits until you have enough days in the cycle Funded accounts
Consistency Payout waits while your best day is too large a share of the cycle's profit Instant Funded (20%), Access funded (40%)

Allowed on every program

  • Expert Advisors and algorithmic trading.
  • Holding positions overnight and over the weekend.

Evaluation accounts

News, short-trade, margin-usage and Atlas Protector rules only run on funded accounts. In an evaluation, the drawdown, daily limit and inactivity rules can breach you, and so can a prohibited practice. Building good habits early still helps: they all apply from your first funded trade.

The one-minute version

  1. Keep equity above your drawdown floor and your daily floor. Both include open trades.
  2. On funded accounts, avoid trades under 3 minutes, trading 5 minutes either side of red-folder news, and letting open losses reach 2% of your starting balance.
  3. Trade at least once every 30 days.
  4. Collect your qualifying days, then request your payout.
